Sophie Turner’s new fringe will inspire your autumn haircut

We’re used to Sophie Turner showcasing hair colour transformations; she often switches between blonde – the colour she was born with, and red – the shade she became synonymous with since playing Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones.
But the actress tends to maintain a consistency with her haircut; it’s nearly always a chest-skimming long length and styled in a centre or deep side parting with mermaid-worthy waves. So, her latest look is a true head-turner.
Stepping out in New York City last week the star revealed a long fringe, cut into her flowing locks. A subtle yet distinct makeover, the feathery fringe frames Turner’s face beautifully with her rich auburn tones, red being a shade that’s always popular for the autumn/winter season, and even more so in 2022 since it’s trended in A-list circles.
While this time last year, ‘curtain bangs’ were being cut into people’s hair left, right and centre, now ‘wispy bangs’ are having a moment. Globally renowned hairstylist Nicky Lazou explains the trend that Turner has adopted.
“Wispy bangs are a perfect way to frame the face in a gentle way that is less harsh than the traditional full fringe.” She says that this hairstyle “adds an element of softness to your face and makes an impact by highlighting the cheekbones”. Though fringes can seem like a big commitment, she says the cut can be versatile. “You can have as much freedom as you like with this style; adjust the length of the bangs depending on your desired look. This look also offers many options when choosing what to do with the rest of your hair; leaving all of your hair down will add a gentle touch around your face whilst tying the hair up and leaving the bangs out creates a powerful, eye-catching look.”
When having a fringe cut it’s always advisable to have a consultation with your hairdresser to identify the perfect style to suit your face shape and lifestyle.
