How to get instant and lasting root lift when styling your hair

Voluminous hair has been big news all year, and one key factor in achieving a full-bodied hairstyle – should your hair naturally fall flat – is root lift. That is, styling the hair with enhanced height around the roots, particularly at the crown and around the sides of the head.
It seems there’s a collective craving for nailing the look, too, as a recent study by Space NK revealed that UK searches for ‘root lift’ are up by 79 per cent year-on-year. Of course, root-raising products are key, but so too is your styling technique. So, who better than the connoisseur of the big, bouncy ‘supermodel blow-dry’, Sam McKnight, to advise us.

Tip 1) Flip your parting: “Go from a middle to the side. Just move it from how you normally wear it. It’s instant!”
Tip 2) Try a temporary topknot after blow-drying: “After blow-drying, spray Hair by Sam McKnight Superlift directly at the root for instant lift and texture. Then, twist your hair softly into a topknot on the top of your head, secure with a clip or a soft silk band so it doesn’t dent. Leave while you get ready and just before you head out the door take it out. Your hair will have cooled down from the warm hairdryer whilst up, and this will give it a little wave, texture and keeps the root lift.”
